Wilder and Walker Memorial Award

In 1977, a small group of watercolor artists banned together to form the South Carolina Watercolor Society, which later became the South Carolina Watermedia Society. Two of these artists were Genie Wilder and Betty Walker, a powerhouse pair from Clinton, South Carolina. As founding members of our society, both Genie and Betty were artists of national renown.

Genie was a Member of Excellence with SCWS and a signature member of the National Watercolor Society. Betty was also a Member of Excellence of SCWS and a signature member of the American Watercolor Society.  Both of these ladies served on the board of directors and in leadership positions of our society.

In late 2018, Genie lost her battle with Alzheimer’s and this year Betty succumbed to COVID-19. To honor these founding members, the SCWS Board is establishing the Wilder and Walker Memorial Award.

If you would like to honor the memory of either or both of these artists with a donation, you can do so below. Please indicate who you are honoring in the comment box.

The award will be given at the 44th Annual National Exhibition Award Ceremony being held August 28th from 4:30 – 6:30PM at the Pickens County Museum, 307 Johnson Street, Pickens, SC.

All donations are fully tax deductible, and you will receive an email confirmation once your payment has been received.
