Nov. 2 – Dec. 20, 2019, University Place

Florence, SC –– South Carolina Watermedia Society (SCWS) hosts its Annual National Exhibition November 2 – December 20, 2019, at University Place, 142 North Dargan Street. The exhibit will be on display during gallery hours.

Each year, SCWS solicits Watermedia works from member and non-member artists across the state and throughout the nation. The pieces are juried by a professional artist, who selects the work for display in the show. The 2019 National Exhibition was juried by Ryan Fox, a Signature Member of American Watercolor Society and five state and regional societies.

Seventy-four artists’ works were selected for the 2019 Exhibition, and 30 paintings will receive awards during the show’s Opening Reception. The reception, which celebrates participating artists and award winners, will be at University Place on Nov. 9. from 4:30 – 6:30 p.m. The reception is open to members and the public. There is no cost to attend, though an RSVP is requested at scwatermedia.com.

In coordination with the National Exhibition, SCWS Past Presidents were invited to submit paintings for the SCWS Past Presidents Exhibition to overlap with the National Exhibition. The Past Presidents show will occur Oct. 1 – Nov. 7, 2019 at Adele Kassab Art Gallery in the Hyman Fine Arts Center on the Francis Marion University Campus.

Since 1977, SCWS has been promoting the artistic and professional interests of its members as well as providing visual arts programs to the public. The Society works toward achieving its goals by making the accomplishments of its members available to a broad base of South Carolinians.

The largest statewide visual arts group in South Carolina, SCWS is an active presenting organization. The Society nurtures and promotes South Carolina artists by providing exhibition opportunities, by offering special programs to market original works and by coordinating educational programs.
